And We certainly tested Sulayman and placed on his throne a body; then he turned [in repentance]. Before them (were many who) rejected messengers,- the people of Nuh, and ‘Ad, and Fir’awn, the Lord of Stakes, and Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the Companions of the Wood; – those were the companies.
