[Mention, O Muḥammad], when the wife of ʿImrān said, Rabbi innee nathartu laka ma fee batnee muharraran fataqabbal minnee innaka anta assamee’u al ‘aleem “My Lord, indeed I have pledged to You what is in my womb, dedicated [for Your service], so accept this from me. Indeed, You are the All Hearing, the All Knowing.”
Beautified for the people is the love of the things they desire – of women and sons, heaps of gold and silver stored up, fine branded horses, and cattle and tilled land. That is the enjoyment of worldly life, but Allah has with Him the best abode of return. Say, “Shall I inform you of
It is He who has sent down to you, [O Muḥammad], the Scripture; in it are ayat [that are] absolutely clear – they are the foundation of the Book – and others allegorical. As for those in whose hearts is perversity, they will follow that of it which is allegorical, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they say, sami’na waata’na ghufranaka rabbana wa-ilayka al-maseer We hear
But among them is he who says, Rabbana atina fee ad-dunya hasanatan wa fee al-akhirati hasanatan waqina ‘athaba an-nar Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire
And [mention] when Ibrahim was raising the foundations of the House and [with him] Ishmael, [saying], Rabbana taqabbal minna innaka anta assamee’u al’aleem Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed, You are the All Hearing, the All Knowing. Rabbana waj’alna muslimayni laka wamin thurriyyatina ommatan muslimatan laka waarina manasikana watub’alayna innaka anta attawwabu arraheem Our Lord,
